Sunset at Pico do Arieiro with Optional Stairway to Heaven Hike

3 hours and 30 minutes

Easy

Watch the sunset from Pico do Arieiro, Madeira’s third-highest peak, on a shared experience designed to help you enjoy this iconic location in a calmer setting. In addition to the sunset itself, guests also have the option to independently explore viewpoints such as Ninho da Manta and the Stairway to Heaven on a self-guided walk of roughly 2.4 km round trip.

After pickup, travel up to 1,818 meters to admire the changing colors of the sky above the clouds in one of Madeira’s most striking mountain landscapes. Whether you choose to relax near the main viewpoint or make the most of the optional walk, this experience offers a memorable and affordable way to enjoy Pico do Arieiro at sunset, surrounded by dramatic peaks, open views, and the unique atmosphere of Madeira’s high mountains at golden hour.
If weather conditions at the summit are too poor, an alternative viewpoint in the Palheiro area may be considered in order to provide the best possible sunset experience on the day.
